EdTech Tool # 14 – Scratch

If you are looking to integrate higher order skills and creating within your online class a great tool that could be for storytelling, simulate problem solving and teaching cause and effect to students.

Scratch is a simple coding web-based for primary students. Player’s choose a “spirit” or a character (animal, human, fruits, etc) and start imagining a sequence of Events/acts that should be connected to each other. Each color on the side represents a type of event. I suggest going through all of them to get yourself acquainted with the options.

You may has as many characters as you want, there is a set of tutorials  on the top left of the page that guide you throw the different type of actions/events.

I find this tool really rich in computer literacy and story telling so it could work as multi-disciplinary project.
